Silver metal lancet cases cont.
Inscriptions on lancet cases come in  numerous forms.  The ones shown here and on the previous page are some of the more common forms.  The inscription on the piece in the lower left hand picture is a form used in many presentation pieces between Medical School faculty and an outstanding student, or between a mentor and his student in practice.
Beautiful silver lancet case  fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1841 with a young Victoria head and the maker’s mark: J.W. for Joseph Wilmore. The top of the lid has a cartouche, which is engraved  ‘H.C.M. Stead’.
